The Washington Commanders were pretty close to getting a generational talent.

Had they lost a couple of more games, they could’ve had a chance to get Caleb Williams.

Nonetheless, it’s not like getting Jayden Daniels was a consolation prize, not by any means.

The LSU product could also be a generational talent, as he’s drawn comparisons to Lamar Jackson, although most scouts agree that he’s a better passer at this point in his career than Jackson was when he first entered the league.

That’s why the fans will love to hear that, as expected, HC Dan Quinn has confirmed that Daniels will suit up and play in their first preseason game (via Adam Schefter).

The Commanders will get the preseason started with a date with the New York Jets, who have already ruled out having Aaron Rodgers on the field.

Needless to say, Daniels isn’t likely to play for a long stretch in that game anyway.

He’ll most likely be out there for a drive or two before heading to the sidelines.

He was the most spectacular dual-threat quarterback in college last season, making play after play.

He made Death Valley slightly forget about Joe Burrow for a while, and that’s a lot to say.

Now, he’ll get to play for a creative and innovative offensive coordinator like Kliff Kingsbury, and he’s going to have a plethora of playmakers at his disposal.

They’re not much of a contender ahead of the upcoming campaign, but don’t sleep on the 2024 Washington Commanders.
