The Washington Commanders are bringing back a familiar face ahead of the start of the season.

According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, they’ll sign veteran wideout Jamison Crowder to their practice squad, adding that he’s an early-season call-up candidate.

The Commanders — then known as Redskins — drafted Crowder out of Duke in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He spent four seasons in the nation’s capital, hauling in 221 receptions for 2,628 yards and 14 touchdowns before signing with the New York Jets.

He became a mainstay in New York, logging 118 catches for 1,979 yards and 14 scores over three years.

Then, he joined the Buffalo Bills for the 2022 season, but he only made four appearances.

Crowder joined the New York Giants during training camp, but he didn’t make the cut for their 53-man roster and became a free agent.

The Commanders currently have seven wide receivers on their initial 53-man roster.

But with Terry McLaurin potentially missing their first game of the season with a toe injury, Crowder gives them another veteran and reliable option.

The Commanders didn’t have a prolific passing game last season, logging just 3,783 receiving yards, which was good for 22nd in the league.

McLaurin was their most prolific wide receiver with 1,191 yards, but now that Eric Bieniemy and Sam Howell are in town, there are high expectations for their new-look offense.
