With the NFL’s deadline to trim the roster to just 53 players, the Washington Commanders are hard at work.
Namely, they’re trying to get something in return for some of their afterthoughts.
According to Commanders insider Nicki Jhabvala, Dan Quinn’s team is fielding calls to try and trade DT Jonathan Ridgeway and TE Cole Turner.

Needless to say, at this point in the offseason, chances are that the Commanders already have their 53-man roster locked up.
However, they might as well try to get something in return for some of the players who may not make the cut.
Then again, their leverage in this situation might be minimal, as other teams know they might be able to just claim them off waivers if they end up releasing them.
The Commanders enter the season in an odd position.
Some analysts believe they could be this year’s version of the 2023 Houston Texans and surprise the world by sneaking into the playoffs, and with Jayden Daniels at the helm, the parallels are more than evident.
Others believe they’re not even close to contention yet, and it might take a while before Dan Quinn is able to work his magic in the nation’s capital.
Whatever the case, they have an interesting set of weapons on offense, and Daniels was one of the most entertaining players to watch in college last season, so they’re definitely worth tuning in for.
Also, with the NFC East looking weaker than in previous years, they might have a shot after all.
