The Lamar Jackson saga took an interesting turn on Monday, with the former NFL MVP announcing that he asked the Baltimore Ravens to trade him.

This has led to a lot of speculation about whether the Ravens will be able to keep him or be forced to send him elsewhere.

One rumored destination for Jackson was the Washington Commanders.

Carson Wentz was a disappointing one-year experiment, which recently ended with his release.

Now the team has Jacoby Brissett in the fold, and according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Washington is content with Brissett and Sam Howell at the position.

#Commanders GM Martin Mayhew confirmed today that they were never in the market for Lamar Jackson. They’re moving forward with Jacoby Brissett and Sam Howell.

This announcement makes the Commanders’ intentions known, as the team may be looking to the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft to develop a quarterback rather than pay Jackson while giving up draft assets to get better at the position immediately.

As for the Ravens, it remains uncertain whether the relationship with Jackson can be mended.

He doesn’t appear interested in their contract offer and already seems to have one foot out of the door in Baltimore.

So a trade may be inevitable at this point.

With Jackson letting the NFL world know that he has asked the Ravens to trade him, it seems highly likely that more teams around the league may show interest in the superstar signal-caller in the coming weeks.

It’ll be an interesting stretch leading up to the draft on April 27, as Baltimore will almost certainly be working the phones to find the best trade possible for their franchise quarterback.
