Rebranding a franchise may seem like a simple process to an outsider, as all you have to do is choose a new name, design a couple of uniforms, and call it a day.

If only it were that simple, as there is still the issue of having a ton of old merch from the defunct version of the franchise that some people may hold onto a little too long, and one of those people might just happen to be your head coach.

New Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn wore a controversial shirt in his press conference on Saturday that featured aspects of the franchise’s old team name and logo, and it got fans wondering if the team was testing the waters as it heads into a new era, per ProFootballTalk.

Commanders have no comment on Dan Quinn’s not-officially-licensed T-shirt incorporating the old logo. Quinn apparently acted on his own and without team knowledge or involvement. https://t.co/tmQ9yChYSL

The Commanders are reportedly once again in line for another potential rebrand after recently transferring to new ownership, so the conspiracies quickly started once everyone saw the feathers on Quinn’s shirt.

The team itself revealed it has no comment on the shirt, but that it was not a team-issued officially licensed shirt.

Quinn wore the shirt on his own, and apparently as a newcomer hasn’t learned the ins and outs of what acceptable apparel is within this organization.

This is peak offseason content that just has you begging for football to come back.

A new coach and new quarterback has to have this fan base ready to go and put the past behind them, and part of putting the past behind them may include getting Quinn a new shirt.
