The Washington Commanders have undergone a complete organizational overhaul in recent months, not only changing ownership and the coaching staff but also revamping a roster that was in desperate need of it.
Early reports out of training camp indicate that one high-profile rookie is already turning heads as well, which should have fans excited for the 2024 season.
In a recent appearance on “Up & Adams,” head coach Dan Quinn told Kay Adams that rookie No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels has been impressive in camp so far.
“He’s got this awesome blend of confidence and humility,” Quinn said. “… I think to be excellent, you do need both.”

Daniels is fresh off a Heisman Trophy campaign with LSU last season when he put up 50 total touchdowns and just four interceptions, so it’s great to hear he is rapidly developing as a leader for the Commanders.
Quinn has been around the game for a long time, so it means a lot that Daniels has already earned such high praise from him.
Quinn is seen as a defensive-minded coach after spending the past three years as the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, but we mustn’t forget he was the man in charge of the Atlanta Falcons as the head coach during their prolific offensive years of 2015-2020, most notably falling just short in Super Bowl LI after blowing a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots.
The Commanders spent heavily this offseason to upgrade the pieces around Daniels and give him a softer landing spot that will hopefully make playing QB for this franchise a bit easier than Sam Howell had it last year when he had to endure 65 sacks.
