The Washington Commanders enter the 2023 season with a new starting quarterback at the helm.

Sam Howell is their starter after receiving rave reviews throughout training camp.

Head coach Ron Rivera has given nothing but glowing reports, and many pundits have shared similar sentiments.

On a recent installment of “Good Morning Football,” Howell’s teammate, Jahan Dotson echoed his praise.

Dotson called Howell a “silent killer,” saying he is “ready for war every single play.”

Dotson was a first-round pick during the 2022 NFL Draft.

He entered the league with high expectations, and the Commanders believe he’ll be a massive asset for the organization.

With Howell as the starting quarterback, it isn’t necessarily known how the Commanders’ season will play out.

They finished the 2022 campaign with a record of 8-8-1, the lone NFC East team to miss the playoffs.

However, their quarterback situation throughout the year was spotty, and the team was non-committal to a starter.

Now that Howell has been handed the keys to this offense, it could lead to smoother sailing for all involved.

Howell might get an easier-than-expected introduction as the Commanders starter.

Their first game of the 2023 season is against the Arizona Cardinals, who are expected to be one of the league’s worst teams.

If Howell can establish confidence in this game, he will likely carry that into the rest of the season, hoping to hold on to this starting gig.

Their next three games after the Cardinals are the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and Philadelphia Eagles.

How will Howell fare against some of the league’s top defenses?
