The Washington Commanders drafted their quarterback of the future in LSU Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels this offseason.

They selected him at No. 2 overall in the NFL Draft in April.

What’s even greater is that the team’s offensive players wanted the franchise to draft him.

Wide receiver Jahan Dotson recently told the Washington media his opinion of the Daniels draft pick.

“That’s the quarterback I wanted,” Dotson said.

Daniels and new head coach Dan Quinn will be eager to turn the fortunes of the franchise around.

This team hasn’t had consistent quarterback play since Doug Williams and Mark Rypien in the late 80s and early 90s.

Look for Daniels to build solid connections with veterans in Pro Bowl wide receiver Terry McLaurin, former Pro Bowl tight end Zach Ertz, Dotson himself, and running backs Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr.

Not much will be expected of Daniels and the Commanders this year.

This is a young team that hasn’t won a playoff game since 2005.

They haven’t had a winning record since 2016.

But with Daniels’ ability to lift his team up on his shoulders, the sky can be the limit for this team.

Over his last two years of college at LSU, he recorded nearly 80 scrimmage touchdowns and just 7 interceptions.

The Washington Commanders will be overlooked all year long.

It is a dangerous combo for a team to have talent, yet be seen as a slouch.

Just keep an eye out for Dan Quinn’s team as the season inches closer and closer.
