Injuries are inevitable in the NFL, no matter how many precautions are put into place.
When players are running around the field and getting tackled, several season-ending injuries happen each year.
In their most recent preseason game, the Dallas Cowboys saw two rookies fall to injury, likely ending their season.
As Ari Meirov has reported, DeMarvion Overshown and John Stephens both tore their ACLs during this contest.

#Cowboys rookie TE John Stephens also suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s preseason game vs. Seattle, per @GehlkenNFL. The undrafted rookie led the Cowboys with 5 catches, 56 yards and a TD in their first preseason game.

Overshown was a third-round pick and played well throughout training camp.
He was working hard to ensure a spot on this roster that’s in desperate need of a deep playoff run.
Stephens was undrafted, as Meirov highlights.
While it might just be the preseason, players like Stephens need all the playing time they can get to showcase their abilities.
He had an uphill battle to get meaningful minutes in the 2023 season, but the reports from the Cowboys’ camp were extremely positive.
Both players will now spend the next several months recovering, hoping to get an opportunity in the NFL during the 2024 season.
This news is not a good omen for a team that was battling health concerns last season.
The Cowboys have been put under a lot of pressure ahead of the season, given their early playoff exit in 2022.
Dak Prescott is in control of the offense, but his ability to lead this team has been questioned.
The defense is noted to be one of the top units in the league if they can put everything together.
