The Dallas Cowboys had been rolling coming into their Week 9 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a battle between the NFC East titans, the Eagles were the ones that managed to come out victorious as they beat the Cowboys 28-23.

Dallas kept pace with Philadelphia throughout the afternoon, but the third quarter ended up being their undoing as they gave up 14 unanswered points.

The Cowboys actually had a chance to win the game on their final possession, but penalties forced the offense backward and they ultimately came up short.

However, there were some positive takeaways for Dallas to hang their heads on.

Cowboys offensive coordinator had high praise for tight end Jake Ferguson who was a large part of the offense via Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News.

“He is playing at an elite level. I think he’s just scratching the surface,” Schottenheimer said.

Ferguson has been an underrated part of the Dallas passing game as Dak Prescott has leaned on CeeDee Lamb for the bulk of his passing attempts.

However, Ferguson is a reliable option for Prescott in the short and intermediate areas of the field.

The sophomore reeled in seven receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown, showing that he’s capable of making plays when defenses try to blanket Lamb and the other wideouts.

Prescott has always had an affinity for his tight ends, and Ferguson seems to be the latest in line to benefit.

Although Lamb will remain the focal point of the passing game, Ferguson’s shown that he can handle more targets.
