Some intriguing news came from NFL reporter Michael Gehlken, who has spent the past five years covering the Dallas Cowboys for The Dallas Morning News.
Gehlken recently announced on social media that he is leaving his reporting role.
“After five seasons reporting on the Cowboys for The Dallas Morning News, I am stepping down and moving to Washington, D.C., for family reasons. … I begin the search for a new challenge,” Gehlken tweeted.

Gehlken also made it a point to show how grateful he is to the Cowboys players, coaches and executive staff.
In addition to the five years he spent covering the Cowboys, Gehlken previously spent nine years covering a couple of AFC West teams in the then-Oakland Raiders and the then-San Diego Chargers.
He also had another interesting quote in the letter he posted to social media.
“The prospect of reporting on a fourth club feels safe and static. I want to challenge myself. I want to grow. I hope to find an organization in D.C. that believes in me enough to offer that opportunity,” Gehlken stated.
So, it seems this is a personal decision to step down from his current post, but it doesn’t mean he wants to stop reporting.
Time will tell to see if another publication or team in Washington, D.C., wants to give him a new opportunity while he is there.
