The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had the most glamorous offseason, but they are still returning the core of the team that won 12 games last season and expectations are as high as ever after yet another disappointing early playoff exit.
One player who had a nice 2023 season has made it known that he is capable of much more and that fans are in for big things.
Tight end Jake Ferguson was featured in an ESPN article written by Todd Archer and has said that he believes he is “not even scratching my surface” while adding, “There’s so many things that I want to get better at and I know I can get better at. We watch film every day of different games, even the practices we’re doing now and I’m like, ‘OK, I can get a lot better still.’”
Ferguson had a great sophomore season after being drafted in the fourth round in 2022, posting 71 catches for 761 yards and five touchdowns while emerging as the No. 2 option behind CeeDee Lamb.
The article detailed what makes Travis Kelce and former Cowboys legend Jason Witten so great and highlighted their consistency year over year, which is something Ferguson will be focusing on heading into year 3.
Ferguson has reportedly been putting in work to bulk up this offseason to help out more in the run game and has also been present for any Dak Prescott throwing sessions to continue developing chemistry with his quarterback.
His coach and his quarterback believe in him, and most importantly, Ferguson believes in himself.
He could be in for a big year that vaults him into the upper echelon of tight ends.
