On Saturday, the Chicago Cubs secured a series win over the San Francisco Giants with a 4-0 victory at Oracle Park.
Leading the way for the North Siders was veteran right-hander Kyle Hendricks, who is the last holdover from the team’s 2016 World Series title run.
And Hendricks put together a masterpiece against the Giants on Saturday, taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
Hendricks went 7.2 innings before allowing his first hit, and still managed to get out of the eighth inning unscathed, despite having just fallen short of making history.
But one hit didn’t tarnish the shine of his performance, and his Cubs teammates were truly impressed by his outing in San Francisco.
Marquee Sports, the TV home of the Cubs, posted a graphic featuring several players’ comments after the game.

Hendricks’ Cubs teammates had nothing but nice things to say about the performance he turned in on Saturday.
Cubs ace Marcus Stroman tweeted that Hendricks was a joy to watch, crediting him for his impressive command and congratulating him on a dominant outing.
Manager David Ross, who was a catcher on the Cubs 2016 team, referred to Hendricks as a “sneaky competitor.”
Outfielder Mike Tauchman, who made an impressive catch to preserve the no-no, gave Hendricks credit for his performance and even commented that watching him pitch was like watching “a master surgeon.”
The veteran right-hander and former World Series champion walked only one batter and struck out three in his dominant outing against the Giants.
The Cubs improved to 28-36 on the season.
