The Washington Commanders aren’t messing around this time.
They needed someone to help bring some order to the offense, and they got one of the best there is in that regard by hiring Eric Bieniemy.
But besides being a great offensive mind and an overqualified Assistant Coach, Bieniemy is also a tough-minded, hard-nosed guy who won’t take it easy in practice, and that has rubbed some people in Washington the wrong way.
Notably, that’s not the case with Commanders WR Curtis Samuel, who recently told JP Finlay of NBC Sports that he actually loves that intensity because it means he’s trying to get the best out of his players.
Curtis Samuel on playing for Eric Bieniemy: “It’s exciting. He’s a tough coach, but nothing I’m not used to…When you have a coach that’s being tough and hard on you, it’s because he wants the best out of you.” Watch full INTV here: https://t.co/Hg9BZyMm7h

Recently, Bieniemy addressed Ron Rivera’s comments about some players being concerned with his methods and how intense he was, and he pretty much claimed that he’s not going to change because it is his job to get them ready to perform.
And judging by his résumé, it would be hard to argue with Bieniemy’s methods, as he’s been a winner for quite a while now.
As a matter of fact, some believe that he’s poised to take over the reins as the actual Head Coach if the Commanders get off to a slow start, as Rivera has been on the hot seat for quite a while now.
That means that whoever doesn’t want to get up to speed and play to a certain standard won’t take the field, so the players better be ready to leave it all on the gridiron.
