Dak Prescott is one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the NFL.
Some fans still believe in his abilities, while others have criticized his lack of playoff success during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys.
In fact, many called for the Cowboys to move on from Prescott after seeing the team’s performance in the 2023 playoffs.
While he might be criticized in the public eye, the Cowboys are moving forward with Prescott at the helm, hoping he can turn things around.
Prescott is scrutinized a lot, but when comparing his numbers over the past 50 games, he’s not so different from Patrick Mahomes, who is viewed as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
As a recent graphic from the NFL on CBS pointed out, Mahomes and Prescott have thrown the same number of touchdown passes in their past 50 games.

Mahomes has thrown one more interception during this time and also has a worse passer rating, fewer yards per attempt, and a worse completion percentage.
On paper, this could indicate that Prescott is in the same tier as Mahomes, given the similarities in their statistical output.
However, regular season stats aren’t what ultimately matters in the NFL.
Mahomes seems to come alive in the playoffs, and he has three Super Bowl rings to show for it versus Prescott’s zero.
Prescott and the Cowboys haven’t been able to find that extra gear in the postseason, which continues to be a tarnish on Prescott’s record and standing in the eye of NFL fans.
