The usual bravado that emanates from Dallas Cowboys training camp has been replaced by a vague sense of angst this time around.
Three of their biggest stars are due for contract extensions, including quarterback Dak Prescott, and there is no sign that an agreement with him, or with pass rusher Micah Parsons or wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, is imminent.
Prescott reportedly did not take part in a recent practice because of ankle soreness, and it could be related to an injury he was nursing weeks ago, via IG: NFLPreme.

Some may wonder if this is just a convenient excuse for Prescott to sit out practice and avoid injury while he tries to get an extension done, after he was seen in a walking boot earlier this summer.
One can debate whether Prescott is a truly elite quarterback, especially given his repeated poor performances in big games and the playoffs, but he did have an excellent 2023 season.
He led the NFL with 410 completed passes and 36 touchdown passes, ranked third in passing yards, and was tied for second in pass completion percentage.
There has been a feeling for weeks that perhaps the Cowboys aren’t fully sold on him as their franchise signal-caller moving forward and that they may just let him play out the final year of his current deal and become a free agent.
However, Cowboys executive Stephen Jones, the son of owner Jerry Jones, recently said that the team plans to re-sign Prescott, as well as Parsons and Lamb.
