The Los Angeles Lakers may have struck gold with one of their draft picks.
Just like all Lakers first-round picks, Dalton Knecht entered the league with high expectations.
And while he got off to a somewhat slow start, it seems like he’s finally arrived.
Knecht dominated in the loss to the Houston Rockets, scoring 25 points with six rebounds, four assists, and five three-pointers on 50% from the floor (via Courtside Buzz).

He was arguably the most NBA-ready prospect in this class, and his shot-making abilities will be very welcome by the organization.
JJ Redick’s team faces plenty of questions ahead of the upcoming season, and while Knecht might not knock down five triples per game night in and night out, his ability to space the floor should come in quite handily for a team that craved three-point shooting last season.
On top of that, it’s hard to think of someone better to mentor a shooter than one of the most efficient shooters the game has ever seen, so even though he’s not particularly the youngest prospect entering the league right now, there are more than enough reasons to be excited about Knecht’s development if you’re a Lakers fan.
Summer League is irrelevant until it isn’t, and it’s always nice to see young players get into a rhythm and find their stroke and confidence before the preseason.
Knecht should be a part of the rotation right away, and it was about time Lakers fans got a glimpse of what he’s capable of doing.
