He hasn’t even played in a regular season NBA game yet but Dalton Knecht of the Los Angeles Lakers already has a clever nickname.

Because of the pronunciation of his last name and the fact that he wears the number four, many people refer to the incoming rookie as “Knecht 4.”

According to a social media post shared by Lakers All Day Everyday on Twitter, Knecht made one fan happy by signing a box of the board game Connect 4 the other night.

This probably won’t be the last time that Knecht adds his signature to a copy of the game.

He has earned a ton of attention since being signed by the Lakers as the No. 17 pick in the recent draft.

Many analysts predicted that he’d go much higher in the draft and they feel that the Lakers got the steal of the night when acquiring him.

He has impressed during the Summer League and now many Lakers fans predict that he could have a fantastic rookie season.

This rookie class is an interesting one.

There is a lot of great talent but no unanimous choice for the best player in the class.

So there is a chance that Knecht could play very well, impress, and possibly earn Rookie of the Year.

But before he can get to that point, he has to wrap up the Summer League, continually improve his skills, and then prepare for the regular season.

The Lakers haven’t made any moves during free agency, meaning that Knecht might get a chance to play more than expected when 2024-25 starts.

There will be high expectations for the young rookie.

If he performs well and makes the team proud, he will be signing a lot of board games.
