The Milwaukee Bucks haven’t exactly been as good as expected this season.
Despite their record, which is the third-best in the Eastern Conference, they haven’t looked like a team that could consistently beat a championship contender in a seven-game series.
They parted ways with first-year coach Adrian Griffin midway through the season, replacing him with Doc Rivers.
Needless to say, the players are as disappointed as the fans.
That includes Damian Lillard.
The stellar point guard hasn’t fared as well as he did in his days with the Portland Trail Blazers, and he’s well aware of the fact that they’ve underachieved.
Talking to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, he recently admitted that he thought the Bucks would be as dominant as the Boston Celtics by this point in the season (via Legion Hoops).
“I thought we was going to be how Boston is right now,” Lillard said.

Losing Jrue Holiday was obviously going to take a huge toll on their defense, and Khris Middleton hasn’t been able to shake off his knee injury.
Then again, it seems like their woes go way beyond that.
This team has underperformed on defense more often than not, and they’re getting outpaced and outhustled as well.
Lillard’s pairing with Giannis Antetokounmpo was supposed to give them the most dominant and unstoppable one-two punch in the game, as teams wouldn’t be able to double any of them without leaving the other one wide open.
They still have one-third of the season left to achieve their true potential, but the clock is ticking, and they’ll need to right the ship soon.
