Damian Lillard has officially requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers today.

After 11 seasons in Portland, he has decided he has seen enough and will try to win that elusive NBA championship.

As one of the top point guards in the NBA, Lillard will have plenty of suitors this offseason.

However, it seems like he’s made up his mind and wants to play for the Miami Heat, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Lillard has shown time and time again that he could have led the Blazers to compete for a championship if they had a competitive team.

After reaching the 2019 Western Conference Finals, Lillard hasn’t even been close to repeating that.

Coming off a fresh Finals appearance, the Miami Heat could take that final step with Lillard on the roster.

They lost Gabe Vincent and Max Strus in free agency, and that will mean nothing if they land Lillard.

This appears to be a great match and Lillard would most likely be a great fit for the Heat culture.

Last season, he averaged 32.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds in 58 games.

With players like Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo by his side, Lillard will surely thrive.

Just when everybody thought he would stay with the Blazers for another season, Lillard shocked the NBA world.
