It seems certain that Damian Lillard’s days with the Portland Trail Blazers are coming to an end.

The superstar guard requested a trade from the team weeks ago, although nothing has come from that request just yet as the Blazers aren’t hard at work on any deal with the Miami Heat.

But even though the process is slow-going, Lillard isn’t budging on the path he’s making for himself.

Speaking to SportsCenter on ESPN, per Brady Hawk, Lillard talked about loyalty and what it means to him and his future.

“I have always said that I’m loyal to who I am. And I’m going to do what I feel like is the right thing to do,” Lillard said.

He added: “This is the vision I have for myself, this is what I see being fit for me at this moment. I’m going to ride that until the wheels fall off.”

Dame Lillard on the loyalty stuff:

“I’ve always said that I’m loyal to who I am and I’m going to do what I feel is the right thing to do. This is the vision I have for myself, this is what I see being fit for me at this moment, then I’m gonna ride that til the wheels fall off.” pic.twitter.com/9aEOg15ghd

Although it’s brief, Lillard’s comments confirm that he is determined to leave the Blazers and he isn’t going to change his mind.

As he said, he sees a clear vision for himself and he isn’t going to back down from that.

Although Lillard has always been loyal to himself, he has also been unquestionably loyal to the Blazers.

Since starting his career in the NBA, he’s been with the team through thick and very, very thin.

He is the sort of athlete who sticks to his plan and desires, no matter what other people say.

That has been good news for the Blazers over the seasons but now it’s working against them.

Lillard wants to leave Portland and the past has shown that he will not change his mind now that it’s set.
