Damian Lillard was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the sixth overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

Lillard had been loyal to the Trail Blazers for 11 seasons before requesting a trade from the organization this summer.

Considering Lillard has always been proud of his loyalty to the Trail Blazers, he got on the wrong side of many fans.

Either way, it seems there’s still a tiny part of Lillard that wants to stay in Portland.

Lillard wants to retire with the Trail Blazers in a perfect world, as he revealed on the “It Is What It Is” podcast via NBACentral on Twitter.

“In a perfect world, I could spend my entire career in Portland,” Lillard revealed.

Dame has been with one organization throughout his career, but it hasn’t helped him become an NBA champion.

The closest that he got to the NBA Finals was during the 2019 playoffs.

The Trail Blazers were swept by the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 Western Conference Finals.

Since then, many urged Lillard to demand a trade, and he ultimately gave in to those requests this offseason.

Dame wants to leave the Trail Blazers and named the Miami Heat as his preferred destination.

Unfortunately, the asking price for Lillard has been deemed too high by the Heat, who are fresh off their second NBA Finals in the last four seasons.

Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game in the 2022-23 NBA season.

The 33-year-old still has a lot of fuel left in his tank and the Heat may go above and beyond to trade for him.

But is there a slim chance that Lillard will stay with the Trail Blazers?

We will find out soon.
