Throughout his NBA career, Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard has faced many great players who have challenged him on the court.
With more than a decade of experience in the league, mainly with the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard has had his fair share of battles in this era of 3-point shooters and elite guards.
Although he has had plenty of on-court showdowns with all-time greats like Chris Paul and Stephen Curry, one name seems to stick out in his mind as someone who gave him trouble and always tried to get in his head.
That player is Russell Westbrook, who will now be playing alongside three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic with the Denver Nuggets during the 2024-25 NBA season.
Even though Westbrook is well past his prime and seems to be playing for a different team on an annual basis in the twilight of his career, he has left an impression on Lillard, who said the former NBA MVP used to bully him on the court.
“He was the bully. … He used to try to give me 50 every time. He would be shooting on me so much, that [Kevin Durant] would be getting mad, like, ‘Pass the ball!” Lillard said, via ClutchPoints.

Lillard likely isn’t the only one who has had to deal with Westbrook’s antics over the years, as he’s gotten into it with plenty of opponents and has become quite a pest for some to handle.
Fortunately for Lillard, he won’t have to deal with that nonsense from Westbrook as much now that they are in separate conferences and will rarely see each other throughout the season.
