The Milwaukee Bucks were somewhat in control of their game vs. the Detroit Pistons, leading by as many as 15 points.

Then, two quick technical fouls sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the locker room, and Monty Williams’ team kept pounding, pushing the pace, and knocking down threes to build a 10-point lead late in the game.

The Bucks were able to storm their way back into the game thanks to some solid team defense down the stretch, as well as Damian Lillard’s usual scoring outbursts when the game is on the line.

When asked about the win, Lillard called it a ‘character-building’ triumph for Adrian Griffin’s troops (via HoopsHype).

He talked about how difficult it is to get a win without your best player, obviously referring to Giannis, and praised the team for being able to weather the storm.

Lillard talked about how easily leads can go away with all teams shooting so many threes, but was happy about the fact that the Bucks could prevail despite the Pistons having all momentum on their side.

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Bucks.

They were supposed to be a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference, but they’ve struggled mightily on the defensive end of the floor, especially when it comes to guarding the three-point line.

It’ll take a while before we see this team at its best, and first-year coach Adrian Griffin has plenty of work to do.

In the meantime, it’ll be up to their two superstars to carry the load.
