For years, Damian Lillard was the heart and soul of the Portland Trail Blazers.
He had some solid supporting casts, and other times, not so much, but more often than not, he still found a way to lead his team to the playoffs.
Unfortunately for him, this is a team sport, and he’s only been able to reach the Conference Finals once in his career.
Even so, he’s been quite a solid postseason performer, averaging 25.7 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.5 rebounds in 61 playoff games to go along with some memorable performances, including a 55-point explosion vs. the Denver Nuggets.
That’s why it wasn’t much of a surprise to see him erupt for 35 points and six three-pointers in the first half over the Indiana Pacers.
Following the game, the former Blazers star went viral for an epic phrase, stating that this was why the Bucks traded for him in the first place (Via The Athletic).

That’s exactly why.
Lillard’s first season with the Bucks has been somewhat disappointing.
On paper, his partnership with Giannis Antetokounmpo was supposed to be the best in the league, as there was simply no way to double either of them with the other looming around.
In reality, they still haven’t found their best rhythm together, but it only takes a good final stretch of the season to get the job done.
Giannis is currently out with an injury, so Lillard has to do what he’s done every single time, which is embracing the burden of being the primary scorer and facilitator and making sure his team stays afloat.
