The Detroit Lions proved that they’re a different team.

They survived the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round before taking down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they were 30 minutes away from reaching the Super Bowl.

That showed that their Week 1 win against the reigning Super Bowl champions was definitely not a fluke.

And after all the moves they made in the offseason, oddsmakers and analysts are finally giving them some credit and praise.

However, what they did in the past is pretty much meaningless for Dan Campbell.

When addressing the media, the coach claimed that he let his players know that they weren’t going to live off their reputation; they had to win it again (via Brad Galli).

Dan Campbell shared his message to the Lions to start this year’s training camp, coming off last season’s success.

“We don’t live off of reputation. We live off of work,” he said.

That’s the kind of mindset that has been instrumental to this team’s turnaround.

Not so long ago, some people were mocking Campbell for his passionate speeches.

Now, he’s proved that he knows how to connect and build strong relationships with his players.

The Lions have a plethora of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and their defense should fare better next season.

Campbell’s uber-aggressive coaching style cost the team when it mattered the most, but he should be able to learn from those mistakes and get better in the future.

But even if some people still don’t believe this team is capable of going the distance and winning the whole thing, they should play with the same hunger and approach in 2024 to finally turn the skeptics into believers.
