It has been a long while since Detroit Lions fans were so excited ahead of a season.

Season tickets were sold out in no time, and Ford Field was rocking during their first preseason game vs. the New York Giants.

They’re the oddsmakers’ favorite to win the NFC North division and claim their first division title in three decades.

And according to former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky, there are more than enough reasons to be excited about them.

In the latest edition of ESPN’s “Get Up,” Orlovsky made a point for the Lions being the third-best team in the NFC, most likely behind the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.

He claimed they’re going to have one of the best offensive lines in the league, a revamped secondary defense with some new veterans and strong additions, and two budding stars — one on each side of the field — in DE Aidan Hutchinson and WR Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Moreover, he defended Jared Goff from criticism, stating that his stats aren’t bad at all, and even comparing his numbers to Dak Prescott’s.

Perhaps, Prescott isn’t the guy you want to look at when trying to make a case for your quarterback not being a liability, but the truth is that Goff has taken his career back from the brink since he arrived in Michigan.

Maybe the Lions aren’t ready to compete for the whole thing right now, but Dan Campbell’s team has taken multiple steps in the right direction, and people are wrong to sleep on them ahead of next season.
