Dan Orlovsky Has A Strong Belief About J.J. McCarthy’s Pro Day

Sometimes, the NFL Draft is all about leverage.

Every now and then, a player gets picked slightly earlier than projected, not because he’s the best prospect but because he’s just what a team needs.

That could be the case with JJ McCarthy.

The Michigan product was projected to be a mid-to-late first-round pick all along, but his draft stock has risen significantly over the past couple of weeks.

With that in mind, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky believes that he’s only going to be more notorious after his Pro Day, but he also believes he’s going to lock himself up as a top-five selection.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Orlovsky explained that as many as three teams — the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders — could all look to trade up with the Arizona Cardinals to get him with the No. 4 pick.

And while he believes it could be a bit of a reach, that’s just the way things go in this business.

Orlovsky argues that the Cardinals could simply stay put and take a generational talent like Marvin Harrison Jr., or they could look to trade down and still get an elite player like Malik Nabers or Rome Udonze.

He believes the Denver Broncos could also be in the mix to try and trade up to get McCarthy.

JJ McCarthy is the best quarterback prospect after Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye, and while that doesn’t mean he’s the fourth or fifth-best prospect overall, he’s what multiple teams need right now.
