Heading into the 2023 NFL season, there were some new potential star quarterbacks who were going to get their chance to shine as starters right out the gate in Week 1 or a little further down the line in the regular season.

All eyes were on rookie quarterbacks Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis after so much hype surrounded all four players coming into the 2023 NFL Draft.

However, one quarterback of the four outshined them all during the 2023 campaign, with Stroud quickly proving to be the real deal for the Houston Texans, as he led the team to an AFC South division title followed by a playoff upset of the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the postseason.

Stroud became a legitimate superstar in his first season in the NFL, with ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky believing he knows why the Texans rookie was such a success last season, via “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“One of the reasons why C.J. Stroud had the season he had was because of the way Ryan Day coaches those quarterbacks at Ohio State,” Orlovsky said.

They huddle and they have long play calls..

I think that was a huge foundation for him and his success” ~ @danorlovsky7 #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/lqBqgu59Uj

Although the Buckeyes do tend to produce talented quarterbacks who can excel on the NFL level, Stroud might end up being the best of the bunch and the pride of Ohio State, as he has shown he can be a generational player.

With Stroud showing so much promise in his rookie season, the Texans have pulled out all the stops this NFL offseason to surround him with more talent, with the team recently signing running back Joe Mixon and trading for superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
