One doesn’t have to be a football expert to realize that the Chicago Bears were one of the worst — if not the worst — teams in the NFL last season.
But as bad as their record was, there were glimpses of promising football, and the moves they made since trading that No. 1 pick were quite encouraging.
That’s why former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky believes we’ll watch a much-improved Justin Fields next season.
Per Orlovsky, Fields played in the absolute worst place to be a quarterback in the league last season, and he still delivered some interesting numbers.

So, now that they have a legit No. 1 wide receiver in D.J. Moore and their offensive line is much improved — up to the point where he believes that it could go from bottom-five to top-half — he expects MVP-caliber play from the third-year signal-caller.
Orlovsky added that he doesn’t expect Fields to be an actual MVP candidate because he doesn’t think the Bears will be a good team, but he predicts impressive numbers from the former Ohio State star.
Truth be told, Fields did do a lot with quite a limited amount of weapons last season.
The team gave him a longer leash and more confidence as a passer as the season went by, and they’ve now given him the kind of supporting cast that makes the fans hope big for the future.
It might take a while before they fulfill that potential and compete for a playoff spot, but Fields should take another major leap forward in year three.
