The tight end position is one of the most complicated and crucial in the NFL, and we’re not talking about fantasy football.
Casual fans often think that non-pass-catching TEs aren’t as good as those who can pile up receiving yards, as if blocking weren’t perhaps the most important part of their job.
Nonetheless, a few tight end prospects have made it to the league with high praise and a lot of hype because of their apparent talent to excel at both blocking and pass-catching, although not many of them are able to live up to those expectations.
Thus far, that has been the case with Cole Kmet through this brief career in the league, but former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky predicts he’s finally ready to take a leap forward.
A tight end I believe is ready for a breakout season, finally

Kmet should be way more involved in the passing game next season, mostly because the Chicago Bears will obviously throw the football way more often.
The Bears offense has been dreadful for the most part of Kmet’s career, but they’ve added some key pieces to finally make people think that they’re going to be much-improved in 2023.
It all starts with HC Matt Eberflus giving Justin Fields a longer leash after watching him get more comfortable in the second half of the season.
The Bears have more weapons in the passing game as well, which will obviously open up more lanes and opportunities for Kmet to do his thing in the open field.
The physical tools are there and so will be the playing time, so it’ll be up to him now.
