The Brandon Aiyuk-49ers saga has entered a new realm.

With teams such as the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots possibly having the interest and the framework for a trade, Aiyuk’s time with the 49ers could be coming to an end real soon.

Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky recently gave his take on what the situation could look like for both teams if they were able to trade for the 1,000-yard wide receiver.

“Cleveland…It’s a luxury addition, not a necessity because they have Coop (Amari Cooper) and Jerry Jeudy…For New England…at some point, you’re going to have to get a premiere, elite, number one-ish wide receiver once Drake Maye becomes your starting quarterback,” Orlovsky said in a video on social media.

Starting with the Browns, as Orlovsky notes, they have a very good roster in place after coming off of an 11-win season.

More specifically, they have a quality group of pass-catchers led by five-time Pro Bowl receiver Amari Cooper, former first-round pick Jerry Jeudy, and Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku.

They don’t need to add Aiyuk, but he could make them more dangerous if they were to swing a deal for him.

In New England, they are simply trying to turn themselves into a contender in the first year with Jerod Mayo as head coach and Drake Maye as quarterback.

Maye, a third-overall draft pick of the Pats, could certainly benefit from having a star wide receiver around, especially in his first few NFL seasons.

Both teams make sense as trade partners for San Francisco because they are out of their conference.

Time will tell to see if a deal can get done or not.
