Caleb Williams has been touted as the best player in the 2024 NFL Draft class for several months now.

He is the presumed No. 1 overall pick in this draft, potentially giving the Chicago Bears a chance to finally find their franchise player at the position.

They have struggled at this position for years, and Williams provides this franchise with a lot of hope.

While Bears fans are seemingly excited, there was an extra sense of urgency and purpose with Williams at his recent Pro Day.

He seemingly wanted to silence any doubters at this performance, as Dan Orlovsky noted in a recent segment of the NFL on ESPN.

Orlovsky said Williams’ Pro Day was “geared towards the naysayers,” indicating that there have been some questions surrounding his game recently.

Williams might have lit the college football scene on fire in his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2022, but, as Orlovsky mentions, he did take a slight step back in 2023.

After seeing this regression, Orlovsky said, “For me, that’s what I want to figure out, if I was the Bears.”

This insinuates that the Bears need to figure out if the 2022 season represented more of what Williams can do in the NFL.

Regardless of what Williams can and will do in the NFL, the Bears have a crucial decision to make in the coming weeks.

If they take Williams with the No. 1 overall pick and he flops, there will be a lot of noise and frustration surrounding this team, especially since they just traded away Justin Fields.
