The Dallas Cowboys flamed out of the postseason again, this time to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the 2023 NFL playoffs.

It’s another embarrassing end to a year for the Cowboys who can’t seem to get over the hump despite a talented roster.

Head coach Mike McCarthy was seemingly on the hot seat, but owner Jerry Jones decided to keep him for the 2024 NFL season.

However, McCarthy’s coaching staff took a hit when the Washington Commanders hired defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to become their new head coach.

Quinn was likely to leave the franchise after the work he did building the Dallas defense into one of the best in the league and now gets another shot as a head coach in Washington.

Quinn offered his thanks and appreciation to the Cowboys organization after his hiring was made official, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post.

“I want to thank Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Coach Mike McCarthy, and the entire Dallas Cowboys organization for the past three seasons. The players, coaching staff, and everyone across the organization became family in such a short time,” Quinn said.

Quinn was well-respected in Dallas for his leadership and defensive acumen, and the team must now find a quality candidate to replace him.

The Cowboys will likely look for an experienced coordinator to succeed Quinn and they’re already reportedly set to meet with former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.

McCarthy and company have a lot of work to do to rebound from their postseason loss and hiring the right DC is of the utmost importance.
