D’Angelo Russell’s career in the NBA got off to a rocky start, as he made some immature mistakes with the Los Angeles Lakers, ultimately resulting in him being traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Although it seemed as though Russell wouldn’t live up to expectations as a No. 2 overall pick, the then-troubled point guard was able to resurrect his career with the Nets and become an All-Star.
Unfortunately, his stint in Brooklyn didn’t last that long, as he was eventually traded again to the Golden State Warriors and then to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After playing for a fourth team in his short career thus far, Russell was traded again, but shockingly it was back to the Lakers, where he’s flourished under the bright lights of Los Angeles.
With Russell coming into his own during the second round of the NBA playoffs against the Warriors, he was asked about his time in Minnesota and gave an honest answer about why it didn’t go as planned, according to The Athletic via NBA on ESPN.

Even though the Timberwolves were able to make the playoffs this season, Minnesota had been a mess throughout the entire 2022-23 campaign, with the blockbuster trade for Rudy Gobert not working out in the way the team anticipated.
Russell didn’t see eye-to-eye with Gobert in Minnesota, and neither did some of his other teammates, as was painfully evident with the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year taking a swing at Kyle Anderson on the bench during a playoff game.
As for Russell, the future looks bright for the one-time All-Star as he seems to fit seamlessly with the Lakers in his second stint and may be in an excellent position to sign an extension this summer.
