Lakers players and fans are getting excited about what next season could bring, especially with the energy and insight of new head coach JJ Redick.
According to Dave McMenamin, per NBACentral, Russell is very eager to see what Redick can do.
“I love what JJ is about and I really see myself thriving under his guidance to help win at a high level,” Russell said.

Russell isn’t the only one; loyal Lakers followers are hoping that Redick is the missing piece that Los Angeles needs.
He clearly has plenty of years of NBA experience but has never been a head coach before and is taking on a very big job with a very big team.
How is this all going to pan out?
Will his sky-high basketball IQ be enough?
Will a team of veteran coaches around him help him achieve more?
Or will this end up being another coaching mistake by the Lakers?
Russell clearly has faith in Redick and his guidance and in a few months, everyone will see if that faith is deserved.
There were many questions about Russell and the next season, with some people believing that he’d leave the team.
There is still a chance he does leave Los Angeles and the front office could now trade him because he has opted in.
But there is also a very good chance that Russell will remain with the Lakers and see all that Redick has to offer.
