The Los Angeles Lakers were seemingly on the path to redemption heading into their matchup against the Brooklyn Nets.
After all, the Lakers were coming on the heels of a 4-2 record in their last six matchups, and D’Angelo Russell’s scoring outburst gave many fans confidence about the team’s direction team.
For what it’s worth, the Lakers managed to dominate the Brooklyn Nets in the first half of their recent matchup.
However, the Nets completely overpowered the Purple and Gold in the second half of the game, which ultimately led to the Lakers’ 112-130 defeat.
After the game, D’Angelo Russell talked about what went wrong for the Lakers, and in the process of doing so, he seemingly threw shade at head coach Darvin Ham via Dave McMenamin on Twitter.
“Obviously Jacque Vaughn’s a hell of a coach. He’s drawing up sets and putting them in position to take advantage of any miscommunication or mishap on our end,” Russell said.
D’Angelo Russell said the Lakers’ miscommunication on defense hurt them tonight against the Nets and added: “Obviously Jacque Vaughn’s a hell of a coach. He’s drawing up sets and putting them in position to take advantage of any miscommunication or mishap on our end.”

Russell pointed out that it was none other than the Lakers’ miscommunication on the defensive end of the floor that hurt them against the Nets.
The 1x NBA All-Star also mentioned that Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn did a perfect job of taking advantage of the aforementioned miscommunication.
Now, there is no harm in acknowledging a good coach, regardless of which team their name is associated with, but considering the position that the Lakers are currently in, perhaps it would have been wise had Russell not made this comment.
With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the Lakers decide to fire Darvin Ham.
After all, the Lakers are currently the 10th seed in the Western Conference and are showing no major signs of improving under the coaching of Ham.
