The New York Giants entered this offseason with a few key expiring contracts that needed to be sorted out.
One of the most important ones was for quarterback Daniel Jones.
Jones was coming off arguably the best season of his career, at least from a team success standpoint.
He led the Giants to the playoffs and even won a playoff game over the Minnesota Vikings.
Yet, his production as a passer was not impressive.
He threw for 3,205 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Still, the Giants felt Jones was worth a four-year contract extension for $40 million per year.
Now much more is expected from Jones as a passer this upcoming season.
But, his training camp has not gotten off to a great start.
Jones has struggled in joint practice and even stayed after to work on his throws, as noted by Dov Kleiman on Twitter.
Update: #Giants QB Daniel Jones stayed after the team joint practice with the #Lions to work on his throws.
Per Dan Duggan, he had an “Uncharacteristically inaccurate day on deep balls.”

New York was hoping that the new contract would give Jones confidence.
Also, that it would force him to take his game to a new level.
Instead, it looks like more of the same from Jones.
Most people around the league knew that he was undeserving of a massive contract extension.
But the Giants did it anyway because they did not want to see what the alternative would look like.
Now all of the pressure is on Giants coach Brian Daboll to continue extrapolating the best from Jones.
If he can take his game to another level we might see the Giants as playoff contenders again.
If not, they will certainly be sitting at home when the playoffs come around.
