Danny Green has been a member of multiple NBA teams and is a three-time champion.

But since re-joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, Green has been something else: mostly absent.

He only played eight games for the Cavaliers since being signed by them mid-season in 2022-23.

Sitting down with “The Hoop Chat,” Green told Emily Austin that his return to Cleveland didn’t go as well as he wanted.

“It was just tough being in that position and that situation. There was a lot of weird air of not knowing what was going on or what was happening or what my role was going to be or what it was,” Green said.

He then opened up about how catching COVID slowed him down before coaching choices prevented him from participating in the postseason.

“The playoffs came, he [J.B. Bickerstaff] wanted to stick with his guys,” Green said about why he was hardly present during the playoffs.

“Decisions that were not made by me is why I was not able to play,” he concluded.

Fans of Green remember that he was originally drafted by the Cavs back in 2009.

He got his start there before he moved on to the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors.

Green then moved to Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Memphis Grizzlies.

He would claim a championship ring with the Spurs, Raptors, and Lakers.

Green coming back to Cleveland was a cause for celebration for many fans, who welcomed him with open arms.

But most people expected more from the star.

However, he joined the Cavs at a tricky time and the team’s coach was very set on the rotation he was working with.

COVID kept him on the sidelines for a while too.

In the end, he wasn’t able to really show Cavaliers fans what he is capable of.

However, what will next season bring?
