The NFL has changed several of its rules for this coming season, and many feel it could result in a vastly different product on the field.
One thing that will be changing significantly is kickoffs, as there is a new set of rules to govern that aspect of the game.
Former wide receiver Dante Hall, who was chiefly a return specialist, says Cincinnati Bengals star wideout Ja’Marr Chase would excel under these conditions if he wanted to return kickoffs, per the NFL’s official X account.
He also said Xavier Gipson of the New York Jets, a true return specialist, and Kansas City Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy will do very well with the new rules.
“Ja’Marr Chase, he’s a very dynamic player after he has the ball in his hands,” Hall said.

Chase has never returned a kickoff or punt in his three pro seasons, and it seems unlikely he will start doing so.
Gipson recorded 511 yards on kick returns last season as a rookie, and he has the speed to excel in a more open-field setting.
One major change when it comes to kickoffs is the fact that players on the kicking team, other than the kicker, won’t be allowed to move until the ball either hits the ground or the player in the new “landing zone.”
Per the NFL, the changes are designed to increase return rates and reduce the risk of injuries by making kickoffs resemble a typical scrimmage play.
Many feel all the new rules that will take effect this season will result in a boost in scoring and yardage, but that they will also cripple defenses at the same time.
