The Cleveland Cavaliers had their 2023-2024 season end sooner than expected.

Despite being one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference during the regular season, the Cavaliers experienced several key injuries during the playoffs, which hurt their chances of making a deep run.

After losing to the Boston Celtics in the second round, the Cavaliers had to take a step back and evaluate what their future would look like.

Shortly after their offseason started, rumors started flowing about several key players from the Cavaliers’ roster, with some insulating that a few trades could be in order.

Darius Garland’s name was brought up in many of these conversations, as was Donavan Mitchell’s.

Mitchell and Garland have been two of the best players for the Cavaliers, but with the team’s early playoff exit, fans and analysts were unsure of their futures with the organization.

Garland sat down with reporter Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com to discuss the situation, giving his side of the story.

“Those are just rumors,” Garland insisted.

Garland wanted fans to know that these conversations were mere rumors and that he didn’t want to be traded.

NBA players in the past have tried to jump ship when things aren’t going as well as they might have expected, but Garland is seemingly willing to stay the course, for now, at least.

It will be interesting to see how the 2024-2025 season goes for the Cavaliers, and if they’ll be able to get back on track with the Eastern Conference being as difficult as it is.
