The Denver Broncos might be 0-3, but they do have one of the best players in the game.

Star DB Patrick Surtain II has often sat atop cornerback rankings, with most of his peers and colleagues admitting that he’s the best in the game.

That happened again via a recent podcast appearance by Darius Slay (Via JPAFootball).

“Surtain is the number one corner right now. Sauce up there too, he one of them young pups that’s coming along,” he said.

Slay also mentions Sauce Gardner as an up-and-coming cornerback, but says there’s too many good cornerbacks to make a top 5 list.

Slay also praised the New York Jets’ young star, Sauce Gardner, stating that he’s up and coming.

Truth be told, Surtain didn’t exactly look at his best on Sunday, but none of his teammates did either.

The Miami Dolphins torched the Broncos for 70 points, the second-highest scoring mark in league history.

That’s not exactly a good look for a so-called elite defense, especially with a defensive-minded coach like Sean Payton.

The Broncos’ defense was the only thing that held them together last season, obviously led by Surtain, but that hasn’t been the case thus far.

Should they continue to struggle this way, then it wouldn’t be shocking to see Surtain being involved in multiple trade rumors.

He’s so dominant and so versatile in both man and zone coverage, and there should be no shortage of teams interested in acquiring his services.

Still, it’s early in the season, and coach Payton is one of the best in business, so we shouldn’t give up on them.

Up next, there’s a date with the Chicago Bears, a team that’s also looking to get their first win of the season.
