The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t managed to win games consistently in the 2023-24 NBA season.

While the Lakers have lost a plethora of close games, a defeat is still a defeat, regardless of the margin.

Speaking of which, the Purple and Gold recently suffered a two-point defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

However, the Lakers could have at least gone into overtime if it wasn’t for a controversial call on LeBron James’ potential game-tying three-point shot.

After the game, head coach Darvin Ham shared his thoughts on the controversial call.

“We thought it was a good 3 … Although I disagree, we have to live with it,” Ham said.

Ham revealed that he believed it was a clear-cut three-pointer, but at the end of the game, there was nothing he or the Lakers could do about the final decision made by the referees.

If James’ shot was counted as a three-pointer, it would have tied the game at 107-107, but instead, it was regarded as a two-point shot.

As a result, the Lakers were down 106-107 with 2.3 seconds left in the game.

The Timberwolves nailed a free throw to take a two-point lead.

Although the Lakers still had a chance to win the game in the final possession of the game, James’ final shot didn’t go in.

The final score was 108-106 in favor of the Minnesota Timberwolves as the Lakers suffered yet another defeat in the season.

The 17-time NBA champions have now fallen to the ninth seed in the Western Conference with a 17-16 record.
