Darvin Ham was recently fired as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers but he didn’t stay unemployed for long.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Ham is joining the Milwaukee Bucks as the top assistant coach to Doc Rivers.

Ham will be welcomed back by Milwaukee, where he spent four seasons as an assistant coach, including during their 2021 NBA championship campaign.

Ham’s time with the Lakers was a mixed bag, as he scored a 90-74 record and took his team to the Western Conference Finals last year.

But things were different this year and the Lakers weren’t able to get out of the first round against the Denver Nuggets.

Instead of sticking with Ham, the Lakers changed directions and are currently searching for a new head coach.

Ham will be returning to a Bucks team that is facing some tough times.

Despite the All-Star talent of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard leading the way, the Bucks also fell in the first round this year, and Rivers’ limited time as the coach has been met with plenty of criticism.

With a full summer to work together and plot a course forward, the Bucks are counting on a much better year in 2024–25.

With the roster they have, the Bucks are hoping to go far in the playoffs next year.

They still believe they could be champions shortly, but there will be tough competition for the top prize.

The Boston Celtics are obviously the biggest team in the East but that conference is getting tougher and will give the Bucks a hard time.

With Rivers figuring things out and Ham back in the fold, the Bucks could be turning a corner this offseason.
