The Los Angeles Lakers survived a major scare.
The Oklahoma City Thunder crept from behind and threatened to make a big comeback, but the Lakers were able to hold onto the win.
The Lakers had a big lead late in the second half before Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company started forcing turnovers and playing lockdown defense.
Following the win, coach Darvin Ham gave them credit for making some plays late, but he also praised his team for being able to weather the storm and secure the win (via Spectrum Sportsnet).
“Defensively we got to continue to build off this,” Ham said.

The Lakers are playing much better lately.
They couldn’t keep their foot on the gas against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, who have proved to be their absolute nemesis.
However, for the most part, it seems like this team is finally finding it’s defensive identity again.
The Lakers have the personnel and potential to be higher than the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference, which is why the fans and media have questioned Darvin Ham so often.
There’s no way this team should be flirting with .500 basketball, as he’s failed to make adjustments too many times since taking the reins of the team.
This isn’t the kind of team you want to come across in the playoffs because of their experience and LeBron James.
Even so, they’re not even a lock to make the playoffs at this point, and they would need to get past the Play-in Tournament first if the season ended today, so they need to keep working.
