The Los Angeles Lakers beat the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, earning the seventh seed in the Western Conference and a ticket to the playoffs.

The Pelicans ended up being tough competition during Tuesday’s game but head coach Darvin Ham made some comments after the game that showed his team wasn’t afraid at all.

According to Legion Hoops, Ham said, “We want all the smoke and we ain’t ducking no fades.”

This is the sort of comment that fans of the Lakers want to hear because the team is about to face its toughest opponent yet.

They haven’t beaten the Denver Nuggets in eight games but they are now set to battle them in the opening round of the postseason.

Lakers fans are having flashbacks to last year when the Nuggets pushed past the Lakers in a sweep of the Western Conference Finals.

Does the same fate await them this year?

Ham doesn’t think so and he’s certainly not afraid of what the Nuggets will throw at his team.

He thinks they are a better, stronger, deeper team and have what it takes to win.

Although the Lakers have been defeated by the Nuggets multiple times this season, maybe they will be able to get the best of them in a seven-game series.

The Lakers have been looking much more competitive lately and have scored some impressive wins.

That proves Ham’s point that they aren’t afraid of tough competition.

But will they still be feeling that way in a few days when they have to face the reigning champions?
