Tyrese Maxey recently signed a five-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers that will bring him more than $200 million.

He has been a huge part of the team, especially over the last couple of seasons, and has grown a lot.

Speaking to the press, per Sam DiGiovanni, Daryl Morey said that this last offseason and the signing of Paul George “wouldn’t have been possible without” Maxey and his “patience.”

“He allowed us to put this offseason together,” Morey said.

Maxey was very patient and waited a whole year for the massive deal he just signed, which allowed Philadelphia to have the cap space needed to sign George.

That is a sign of his loyalty to the team and how much he’s willing to do to help the Sixers win.

Maxey just had the best season of his career, averaging 25.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists.

Not only did that bring Maxey his first All-Star appearance but he also earned Most Improved Player of the Year too.

When last season began, many fans were nervous about the state of the 76ers.

They weren’t sure how the roster would work without James Harden, who made his way to the West Coast before the season began.

But Maxey proved that he was more than capable of filling the void left by Harden and was a reliable number-two option behind Joel Embiid.

And even when Embiid was out for an extended period, Maxey continued to play well and lead his team, even though they fell far in the standings.

Now Maxey will continue to play well and do all he can for his team and will be helped even more by the addition of George.

That signing of George wouldn’t have been possible without Maxey, according to Morey.
