The Carolina Panthers expected more from Bryce Young right out of the gate.
However, it’s also worth noting that they didn’t exactly make it easy for him.
Even though Frank Reich may not have been the right guy for the job, firing your head coach midway through your quarterback’s rookie season might not be the wisest idea.
Now, the former No. 1 pick is getting to learn his second offense in as many years in the league.
However, contrary to what happened the first time around, it seems like he’s getting a full grasp of it.
Recently, new HC Dave Canales raved about Young and the way he’s soaking in information, stating that he’s been ‘fantastic’ in the new offense (via ProFootballTalk):
“He’s doing fantastic with it,” Canales said. “As I expect him to do, he’s really mastering that part of it. So, really pleased.”

This is just what the fans wanted to hear.
Canales is a bit of a QB guru, so he was tailor-made to meet the Panthers’ current needs.
He had already stated that he wouldn’t need Young to be special or do too much on every single snap, hinting at taking some weight off his shoulders in their first year together.
Young excelled during his days with the Alabama Crimson Tide, but he entered the league with plenty of concerns.
His size — or lack thereof — posed a major threat to his development, and the early returns were far from encouraging.
Then again, it’s never wise to count out a young player after just one season, and with Canales leading the way, we may get a better look at what he’s all about in year two.
