Clayton Kershaw was selected to yet another All-Star Game this season after a hot start.
However, the injury bug has claimed the veteran left-hander and three-time Cy Young yet again.
This time, it’s a shoulder injury.
As a result, Kershaw has been replaced on the National League All-Star roster by Pittsburgh Pirates star closer David Bednar.
Understanding Kershaw’s situation and his disappointment, Bednar wasn’t about to forget about the veteran left-hander.
And so, he decided to get him a special gift.
Prior to Tuesday’s game between the Pirates and Dodgers, Bednar left a cooler in the Dodgers dugout for Kershaw, which contained IC Light, a famous Pittsburgh beer.

Bednar also left Kershaw a note, referring to the All-Star left-hander as “Mr. Kershaw.”
The Pirates closer is certainly excited to have another opportunity to pitch in the All-Star Game, but didn’t want Kershaw to feel discouraged.
So, he got the former Cy Young a very special gift, wishing him the best as he recovers from his injury.
This is certainly a nice gesture by Bednar.
The right-hander clearly understood Kershaw’s situation and knew he would be upset over not being able to pitch in the All-Star Game this year.
But he also made sure to think about Kershaw and send him a cooler with some of the finest beer in Pittsburgh and a nice get well note.
The Pirates won their game against the Dodgers last night, but Bednar’s random act of kindness towards Kershaw was certainly an important footnote as the All-Star festivities approach.
