The Detroit Lions had a big hero in their win over the Green Bay Packers.
New RB David Montgomery rushed for over 120 yards and three touchdowns, finally leaving Lambeau Field with a good taste in his mouth.
The former Chicago Bear had suffered through Aaron Rodgers’ dominance over his former franchise, going 0-7 vs. the Packers before last night’s matchup.
That’s why, following the game, he jokingly said that he can finally tell his kid that he beat the Packers (via Around The NFL):
“It felt real different coming in,” Montgomery said. “With the group of guys that I’m with, like I said, ‘I’m blessed.’ To come out here with these guys and get the dub, that’s big for me. I could tell my son that I beat the Packers. So, I’m excited to say that. I’m really excited to be part of this team.”

Montgomery knows the division pretty well, but he didn’t do a lot of winning during his days in the Windy City.
He gave the Lions a veteran presence out of the backfield, but most people expected him to be a backup to Jahmyr Gibbs.
It’s kind of odd to see that the Lions spent such valuable draft capital on Gibbs and have barely used him to start the season, but a lot of that might have to do with Montgomery’s solid production.
With his three scores at Lambeau, he now has a grand total of five touchdowns this season, which is as many as his former team has as a whole.
Of course, there’s always a chance he might lose some ground and cede touches to Gibbs as the season goes by and the rookie gets settled into the offense, but his fantasy football owners should be thrilled right now.
Even so, no one must be happier than him after finally beating the team that used to keep him up at night.
